What is an effective programme and why is it so important?

A realistic programme agreed at the earliest possible stage will form the backbone of the project and enable the Project Manager and the whole team to engage in a common purpose and understanding.

  • The programme has to be made in conjunction with your builder (see here also)

  • It must show each discipline (trade) and how they interact.

  • It must have clearly defined start dates and follow on trades shown.

  • A critical path must be clearly defined ie: important dates and stages to be achieved.

  • It must highlight delivery dates of specialised products as required.

  • It must highlight staged completion dates as required.

  • It must be monitored against progress so that slippage is highlighted at an early stage.

  • It must be easily and readily updated to all parties if changes are required.

I can prepare such a programme highlighting in detail all or part of the above. I can either monitor it for you or you can use it as a leverage tool with your builder as the contract between you should always include a programme.
